FORT MYERS, Fla. -- John Farrell has found another job.
According to multiple major league sources, the former Red Sox manager has signed on to join the Cincinnati Reds as a scout. Farrell will begin by evaluating the Reds' own personnel.
Since being fired by the Red Sox following the 2017 season, Farrell had interviewed for the managerial openings with Philadelphia and Washington.
The 55-year-old led the Sox to back-to-back American League East titles, winning 93 wins games in both 2006 and '07.
The job with the Reds marks the first time Farrell has served in the capacity of a scout, having carried the title of farm director for the Indians before taking the pitching coach job with the Red Sox. His managing stints with the Blue Jays and Red Sox resulted in a 586-548 mark over seven seasons, having won the 2013 World Series.
