Kevin Pillar's stint with the Red Sox was a short one.
The Rockies have traded for the outfielder in exchange for a player to be named later and international slot money. The likely reason for the unnamed player is that any piece of a formal piece of a trade during the 2020 season needs to be on the team's 60-man player pool.
Pillar, who signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Red Sox prior to this season, is hitting .274 with a .794 OPS and four home runs.
The Rockies enter Monday at 17-17, eight games in back of first-place Los Angeles in the National League West but in position for a Wild Card spot.
MLB.com was first to report the deal.
