It is known that the Red Sox' non-waiver trade deadline priority remains to find a relief pitcher. One interesting candidate has been surfaced ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Crasnick tweeted Saturday that the Sox have been eyeing Twins closer Fernando Rodney.

The 41-year-old has had a solid season with the struggling Twins, posting a 2.97 ERA with 18 saves, managing his lowest groundball rate (43.4 percent) in his last 10 seasons. The righty closer has struck out 34 in 30 1/3 innings, holding lefty hitters to a .149 batting average against.

The Red Sox would be obligated to pay Rodney just more than $2 million for the remainder of the season, with the closer carrying a team option for $4.25 million for 2019.
