After weeks of murmurs that the Red Sox and Dodgers were moving in on a trade sending Mookie Betts to Los Angeles, the Sox' chief baseball officer has pushed his first signature transaction over the finish line. According to multiple reports, Boston is sending Betts and David Price to the Dodgers.
BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a deal with the Boston Red Sox that would send star outfielder Mookie Betts and starter David Price to the Dodgers, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Deal is pending medical reviews.
Multiple reports have outfielder Alex Verdugo headed to the Red Sox from LA. The 23-year-old Verdugo played in 106 games for the Dodgers last season, primarily manning center field. A lefty hitter, he finished 2019 with a .294 batting average and .817 OPS along with 12 homers.
Another piece of the trade headed to Boston is from the Twins, who are sending 21-year-old pitcher Brusdar Graterol to the Red Sox. Graterol dominated the minors before making his major league debut with Minnesota in 2019, appearing in 10 relief outings. He struck out 10 in 9 2/3 innings, consistingly showing a 100 mph sinker.
