Nathan Eovaldi agrees to 4-year deal with Red Sox

Nathan Eovaldi is returning to the Red Sox.

Per a major league source, the Red Sox and Eovaldi have come to an agreement on a new deal, pending a physical, with the pitcher getting four years at $67.5 million. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal was first to report the deal, while Robert Murray of The Athletic was first surface the two sides were closing in on a contract. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com was first to offer the details of the contract.

The 28-year-old Eovaldi was the youngest starting pitcher on the free agent market, having seen his value skyrocket after turning in a memorable postseason run. In six appearances throughout the playoffs he compiled a 1.61 ERA allowing three runs over 13 innings in his two starts.

The Astros, Phillies, Yankees, Braves, Brewers, White Sox, Giants and Padres were all reported to have some level of interest in Eovaldi. The Yankees reportedly weren't willing to go past three years with Eovaldi.
