Well, the odds held.

Coming into Thursday night's NBA Draft Lottery there was a 97.6 percent chance the Memphis Grizzlies would land the No. 14 overall pick, a scenario that would hand the selection over to the Celtics. And that's exactly what happened.

The C's know now that they will be picking 14th in the NBA Draft. Danny Ainge now possesses that selection along with No. 26 (its own), No. 30 (from Milwaukee) along with No. 47. It will be a lot of players for a roster that already added seven rookies last season.

It wasn't a great scenario for the Celtics, who would have owned an unprotected Memphis pick next year in what is considered a much deeper draft.

The Celtics secured the pick from Memphis via a 2015 trade that sent Jeff Green to the Grizzlies.

NBADraft.net projects the Celtics taking 6-foot-5 point guard Theo Madedon out of France.

The Memphis Grizzlies were awarded the No. 1 overall pick, with Golden State getting the second selection.
