For the time being, it was good news for Steven Wright.

After being examined by Dr. James Andrews Wednesday in Pensacola, Fla. Wright was told he didn't have to undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, a procedure the pitcher originally feared would be necessitated.

Instead of the surgery, Wright had PRP injections which will now be followed by six weeks of rest and then another visit to Dr. Andrews.

Wright, who originally went on the injured list with a foot injury after being hit with a line-drive July 13, only made six appearances for the Red Sox this season. He had originally felt discomfort in his elbow in May.
