The Patriots' special teams unit is seemingly taking a significant hit.
According to the Boston Globe, special teams stalwart Brandon King is likely out for the season after tearing his quadriceps. He had been carted off the field in the second quarter of the Patriots' preseason game against the Panthers Thursday night.
King's injury is considered the most serious of the Patriots' ailments, with the Globe also reporting Benjamin Watson is in concussion protocol after sustaining a hit from Panthers safety Eric Reid. (For Reid's explanation of the incident, click here.)
