CHICAGO -- The Red Sox are getting some much-needed reinforcements.
The team announced its initial additions to the roster with rosters expanding on Sept. 1. They are:
Infielder Tzu-Wei Lin, first baseman Sam Travis, right-handed pitcher William Cuevas and left-handed relievers Bobby Poyner and Robby Scott. All are on the 40-man roster. All five have had stints on the 25-man major league roster at some point this season.
The Red Sox will also reinstate three players -- Eduardo Rodriguez (ankle), Christian Vazquez (pinky) and Steven Wright (knee) -- off the disabled list.
Rodriguez is slated to start for the Red Sox Saturday, with Wright working out of the bullpen.
