We have the names who are going to be participating in the Red Sox' Spring Training 2.0.
While the team could have announced as many as 60 players to participate in the workouts at Fenway Park and Pawtucket it chose to only identify 47. with the understanding that more can still be added. The group is made up of 37 players on the 40-man roster and 10 non-roster invitees. (A name that is expected to be added is non-roster invitee Jonathan Lucroy whose contract is being adjusted.)
The only three players currently on the 40-man roster who weren't included in the initial announcement were pitchers Yoan Aybar and Chris Sale and outfielder Marcus Wilson. Dustin Pedroia is on the 60-day disabled list.
The Red Sox will need to cut their roster down to 30 players by Opening Day (July 23 or 24). Two weeks later the number will need to be pared down to 28, with another cut to 26 taking place two weeks after that.
