HOUSTON -- Mitch Moreland is making his return to the Red Sox' starting lineup.
The first baseman, who hasn't started since injuring his right hamstring in Game 2 of the American League Division Series, is getting the nod against Astros ace Justin Verlander in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series Thursday night.
Moreland has had moderate success against Verlander, going 10-for-32 (.313). The lefty hitter has had some success coming off the bench since his injury, claiming a walk, hit and a hit-by-pitch in four pinch-hitting opportunities.
