There was one glaring omission from the Red Sox' lineup Saturday.
J.D. Martinez isn't in it.
The big league's home run and RBI leader will start the second game of the Red Sox' series in Detroit on the bench, with Steve Pearce serving as the designated hitter against Tigers righty Mike Fiers. Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters prior to the game that Martinez was dealing with "general soreness" after colliding with the right-field wall Friday night.
