ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Red Sox might be bringing back an old friend.
According to team president Sam Kennedy, the Red Sox haven't ruled out bringing back bullpen carts for 2019. In a text to WEEI.com, Kennedy wrote that the club is "evaluating" the idea of implementing the vehicles, although it is ruling out using them this season.
Two clubs -- the Diamondbacks and Tigers -- are using bullpen carts this season, with both teams offering the service up to opposing relievers, as well. So far, relievers who have been afforded the opportunity to utilize the cart have declined.
The Red Sox used a bullpen cart throughout much of the 1960's and '70's.
