LONDON -- As expected, the Red Sox added a couple of players for their two-game series with the Yankees, appointing Sam Travis as the team's 26th man while allowing catcher Oscar Hernandez to travel with the team.

What wasn't anticipated was the team placing Brian Johnson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 27 with a non-baseball related medical matter that was discovered during routine testing by the club's medical staff. The Red Sox announced Johnson is expected to return to pitching this season.

Johnson has appeared in seven games this season, making two starts. His last outing came on June 22 when one run over five innings against the Blue Jays.
