Once Major League Baseball's report came out Wednesday afternoon, stating that Alex Cora would only be suspended through the 2020 postseason and not beyond the speculation began.
Would Cora make his return to the manager's seat for the Red Sox in 2021? There is still a chance, but the new status of Ron Roenicke complicates that path a bit.
According to a team source, the Red Sox are removing the "interim" tag on Roenicke's title, officially making him the team's manager. Roenicke's contract runs through 2020.
ESPN's Buster Olney was first to report the news the change in title.
