Rick Porcello is not going into the All-Star break in a good place.
The Red Sox starting pitcher suffered through his worst outing of the season, allowing eight runs on seven hits while getting just six outs against the Blue Jays Friday night. Porcello gave way to reliever Hector Velazquez with nobody out in the third inning after Dwight Smith Jr.'s line-drive, two-run homer around the right-field foul pole.
Porcello got through the first inning without giving up a run but allowed three in the second. The Red Sox did manage to stake the righty to a 6-3 lead after a five-run bottom of the second inning, but Porcello gave it right back with the Jays' five-run third.
Porcello would finish his night throwing 64 pitches, while watching his ERA rise from 3.58 to 4.13. The outing marked the first time since 2015 Porcello had gone two or fewer innings.
