Insult to injury: Brusdar Graterol dominates Manny Machado

The Red Sox have the second-worst record in baseball with a pitching staff that owns the fifth-highest ERA of all the teams. If there was one thing this team could use right now is some hope when it comes to finding high-end hurlers.

It's why the image of Brusdar Graterol Wednesday night only added to the increasing discomfort.

Graterol was the pitcher the Red Sox was originally going to get along with Alex Verdugo in the three-way trade that was sending Mookie Betts and David Price to the Dodgers. But because of concerns regarding the pitcher's physical well-being, the Sox chose to call an audible and ask for minor league infielder Jeter Downs and catcher Connor Wong instead.

While Graterol does possess the second-highest ERA on the Dodgers (4.70) it doesn't diminish what he would mean to this Red Sox staff. The ranking on the Los Angeles staff means little considering it owns the best group of pitchers in Major League Baseball this season.
