Skip Bayless gets his fair share of grief for what is usually a tidal wave of hot takes.
But thanks to the memory of Ryan Spagnoli, we can remember that every once in a while listening to the co-host of FS1's "Undisputed" is a worthwhile activity.
Two hundred and 86 days after the final Patriots' preseason game leading into the 2019 season, we can now look at Bayless' rant the next day and realize he was truly prophetic when it came to analysis of then-rookie Jarrett Stidham.
"In all the years I have been covering your sports the National Football League I have never, ever seen anything like this," Bayless said to co-host Shannon Sharpe. "It's happening again right before your eyes. Bill Belichick has his new Jimmy G. His new next Brady. He has now fallen in football love with Jarrett Stidham. It's very clear, especially after last night, he is fast-tracking Jarrett Stidham to replace Tom Brady next season ..."
The take came after Stidham played the entire final preseason game against the Giants, going 18-for-28 for 225 yards and a pair of touchdowns
To Bayless' credit, he supported his opinion with some notable preseason statistics. The analyst pointed out that Stidham played 218 preseason snaps (averaging 23 passing attempts a game) to Brady's 28 where a year before the starter totaled 69 snaps.
"Clearly the goal last night was to make Jarrett Stidham look as good as he could look because he was going to play with first-stringers," Bayless noted.
It all makes perfect sense now, doesn't it?
Hate giving Skip credit (hes wrong 99 out of 100 times) but his take/opinion on Stidham last August was spot on"Belichick has his new Jimmy G, his new next Brady. He has now fallen in football love with Stidham. It's very clear he is fast tracking him."pic.twitter.com/zSfrAkQvxg
