Despite being on the ALCS roster, Mitch Moreland is not healthy enough to play in Game 1 against the Astros Saturday night.
Moreland injured his hamstring against the Yankees, stayed on the ALCS roster, but is not well enough to start against right-hander Justin Verlander. Moreland is 10-for-32 with six doubles in his career against Verlander.
Steve Pearce will get the start at first base in his place, while Brock Holt will start at second base over Ian Kinsler. Also, Eduardo Nunez will start at third base over Rafael Devers. Xander Bogaerts will bat clean up, while Pearce will hit fifth.
