FOXBORO -- There was a reason why tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins wasn't present at Patriots minicamp Tuesday.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the team is releasing the veteran tight end. The report adds he’s taking a step away for a month for personal issues. It's unclear if the Patriots, or any team for that matter, will be interested in him once he returns.
Seferian-Jenkins was signed this offseason as a free agent.
The Patriots now have a tight ends depth chart of Ben Watson, Matt LaCosse, Stephen Anderson, Ryan Izzo and Andrew Beck. Watson is also suspended for the first four games.
