The Patriots will in all likelihood be drafting a quarterback in this April's draft, and perhaps if he's still available when the Patriots select at the end of the first round, they could draft Baker Mayfield out of Oklahoma.
In a Q&A with the New York Post, Mayfield gave some insight on a number of things, including revealing he wants to learn from Tom Brady.
Mayfield was asked if he could pick the brain of any NFL quarterback, who would it be?
"Tom Brady, no doubt," he said.
In a draft stacked with good quarterbacks, Mayfield believes he's the best.
"I am. I believe I am," he said. "That's not any disrespect to the other guys. I've always had confidence, and I think I'm more than capable of doing everything and more."
Even with making this declaration, he said it doesn't make him cocky.
"No, I'm confident, I wouldn't say cocky," he said. "I don't have it all figured out. If I was Tom Brady, then we would maybe have a different conversation, but he doesn't have that mentality, so that's what makes him great."
Mayfield is projected to go anywhere from the top of the first round to the middle of the second round.
