Earlier this week, the Patriots signed veteran kicker Nick Folk, who spent some time with the team last year, joining Justin Rohrwasser, who the team selected in the fifth round of April's NFL Draft.
Bill Belichick was asked about the move via video conference Wednesday.
“I think both players are good kickers. We will see how it goes. I think that will be up to them to decide," he said. "But, we’ve talked to Nick throughout the course of the spring and even training camp. Things worked out here last week. It is great to have him. He certainly came in and did a good job for us last year. Things just didn’t work out until recently with Nick and so I am glad they did. I am glad he’s here. We’ll see how it turns out. I don’t know. Those two guys will get as much opportunity as we can give them. We’ll evaluate it and go from there.
"But, we’ve been talking to Nick since March. This isn’t something that came up a few days ago. It is been an on-going conversation, for several months actually.”
Rohrwasser hasn't looked steady through the first week or so of training camp.
Meanwhile, with the Patriots last year Folk was 16-of-19 on field goals and 13-of-13 on extra points.
