Manager Alex Cora is trying something new as the Red Sox look to avoid a weekend series sweep to the Astros.
With Andrew Benintendi getting a down day, Michael Chavis will play second base and lead off against Houston right-hander Brad Peacock. J.D. Martinez will play left field and Steve Pearce will play first base, as Mitch Moreland will get a day off.
After hitting his sixth home run of the season Saturday, Christian Vazquez will bat fifth and catch Red Sox starter Chris Sale.
