That was fast.
J.D. Martinez wasted no time making an impact in his first playoff series with the Red Sox as the designated hitter hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to give the home team a quick 3-0 lead over the Yankees.
On a 2-0 count, Martinez hit a line shot off a 93.3 mile an hour J.A. Happ fastball into the first row of the Green Monster seats. It was his fourth career postseason home run.
The Red Sox were 74-15 when scoring first during the regular season.
