Cam Newton returns to Patriots practice Tuesday, 2 offensive line starters absent for second straight day

It was a one-day absence for Cam Newton from Patriots practice.

Following a reported excused absence Monday, Newton was back on the field Tuesday, according to reporters on site.

While Newton returned, there were several key players missing. Those not present for the media portion included: JC Jackson, Damien Harris, Michael Jackson, David Andrews, Isaiah Wynn, Michael Barnett, Nick Thurman and Beau Allen.

It is the second straight missed practice for Harris, Andrews and Wynn.

Since the regular season is just under two weeks away, it is not worth getting stressed over two starters on the offensive line missing, but it is certainly something to monitor. That is because there isn't exactly much depth at both the center and tackle positions.

If Andrews and Wynn were to miss time, it's likely second-year player Hjalte Froholdt, rookie Michael Onwenu and veteran Korey Cunningham would be asked to fill in. While those players have been fine this summer, it's a big drop-off from Andrews and Wynn.

The Patriots are expected to practice again Wednesday.
