FOXBOROUGH -- In just his second NFL game, N'Keal Harry caught his first career touchdown Sunday against the Cowboys.
In the first quarter, the rookie made a beautiful catch on a back-shoulder throw from Tom Brady in the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown in the 13-9 win. It turned out to be the only touchdown of the game.
"It was a great feeling," Harry said afterwards. "It was a great throw. I'm just happy I could come up and make the play."
It was his lone catch of the game on three targets, which has the rookie looking for more.
"I'm definitely not satisfied, and anybody that knows me knows that I'm about to turn it up a notch, and I'm about to really hit the grindstone and really get back to work," Harry said.
The touchdown was a positive development for the offense given its red-zone struggles this season, as going into the day the Patriots were 25th in the NFL in terms of red-zone scoring. Standing 6-foot-4, Harry has the ability to be a playmaker in this area by using his body and also his talent of making contested catches.
The first-round pick saw extended playing time with Mohamed Sanu (ankle) and Phillip Dorsett (concussion) missing the contest, which could turn into a positive in the coming weeks. Tom Brady saw the potential is there, and may look to get Harry even more involved as the weeks go by with defenses paying more attention to Julian Edelman, Sanu and Dorsett.
While Harry hasn't been spectacular in his first two NFL games, they certainly have been something to build on.
