It appears former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is taking a lot of what he learned from Bill Belichick in New England and taking it to Detroit, but it isn't going over well with at least one Detroit columnist.

Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press believes Patricia is in danger of losing his players because he's making them run during spring OTAs.

"Matt Patricia is in danger of losing his players," the first line of the column reads.

He uses a quote from running back Kerryon Johnsont which reads: "These are true professionals. These are grown men, 30, 35, 25."

Monarrez used the quotes to back his point that NFL players shouldn't be running at practice after making mistakes, but then a correction was issued noting the quote was actually "marveling at the talent level difference between college and NFL players."

The quote was the only real tangible thing he had to back up his point and that was proven to be not about what he was talking about.

Bottom line, before Patricia has even coached a single NFL game a Detroit reporter is saying he's in danger of losing his players, and as we know from watching the Patriots year-after-year, it comes down to winning. If Patricia wins, his style is praised, but if Patricia loses, then his style is open to criticism.

It's way too early to make that call.
