On Sunday night, Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower joined The Double Coverage podcast with Devin and Jason McCourty to discuss a number of different topics as the NFL gets set to report for training camp this week.
Before getting into football talk, Hightower revealed he and his fiancée had a baby boy last month and all three are doing well.
Hightower was asked who his favorite football player is and he gave an interesting answer -- his current linebackers coach, Jerod Mayo.
"I watched Mayo when he was in college. I wasn't a big UT (University of Tennessee) fan, but their games were always on, obviously," he said. "I watched him growing up. Obviously, he was a bad ass. I liked him and then obviously getting here and the way he brought me in under his wing, treated me like a brother. And then him coming back and being a coach, it's never really like being in a room with a coach and actually talking to a coach. That's my all-time favorite."
The linebacker has been involved in some big plays over the course of his eight seasons in the league. He was asked to rank the following three plays: his scoop-and-score during his rookie season, tackling Marshawn Lynch at the goal-line in Super Bowl XLIX and his strip-sack of Matt Ryan in Super Bowl LI.
Hightower went with the plays in that exact order and the strip-sack being the best because of what it meant in the game, completely shifting momentum in the Patriots favor.
