FOXBORO -- While Tom Brady is expected to play Sunday with a right-hand injury, if he ever couldn't give it a go, there will be a former Patriots great on hand for the game, and he said Friday he'd be ready to play.

Former quarterback Drew Bledsoe will be the honorary captain, and on a conference call Friday, he joked he would be ready if called upon.

"I am getting kind of old, so that injury to my finger back in the last 90s, when it gets cold, it starts to ache a little bit," Bledsoe said. "But, yeah the ball still flies off my hand pretty good, believe it or not. I am coaching some high school football and every now and then I will play some scout team.

"If they need me I will be ready. I will borrow Julian Edelman's No. 11 jersey and go out there and sling it around. I think I have one or two good plays in me, that's about it."

Bledsoe said it's a great privilege to be honorary captain for the game, and thanked Robert Kraft for thinking of him.

"It's a great honor to come out and be an honorary captain for the best organization in professional sports," he said. "Mr. Kraft has always been so kind to me and to my family. It's just a great feeling to get that call from him the other day to ask me to come out and do that. Change of plans and we'll be there."
