Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is one of the best tight ends in the league, so he has a good idea of just how good Rob Gronkowski is.
When speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Ertz gave Gronkowski a lot of praise, including saying he would still be putting up tremendous numbers even without Tom Brady as his quarterback.
"The guy's a physical specimen," Ertz said. "He's a freak. He's a beast after the catch. He's able to use his body even when he's not open to get open with the frame he has. He's definitely been the premier tight end in this league for a long time [and] I think he'd still be producing those numbers without Tom Brady."
Gronkowski finished the regular season with 69 catches for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns. He was named a first-team All-Pro.
As for Super Bowl LII, Gronkowski has a concussion and would have missed practice Wednesday if the Patriots would have practiced, according to a hypothetical injury report. Despite this, there are reportedly positive vibes for him playing in the game.
New England will need him in a big way, as the Eagles defense has had issues covering opposing tight ends this season.
