It appears former Arkansas and Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema will be helping the Patriots out for more than just the draft.
After being spotted at the combine and pro days as a representative of the Patriots this spring, according to ESPN's Field Yates Bielema will assist the Patriots’ coaching staff during rookie minicamp this weekend.
With Matt Patricia leaving for the Lions, linebackers coach Brian Flores will assume play-calling duties, but will not have the defensive coordinator title. If Bielema is added to the official staff, Bielema's experience is centered around the defensive side of the ball, but it's not clear if he would have a defined role, or will just be a coaching assistant.
Bielema has coached four current members of the Patriots: defensive ends Trey Flowers and Deatrich Wise, running back James White and wide receiver Cody Hollister.
