It looks like the Patriots will have a new member on staff next season.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and James Palmer, former Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is likely joining the Patriots in a top defensive role. While his official title is not yet known, the Patriots will have an opening once de facto defensive coordinator Brian Flores leaves for Miami.
Schiano is currently in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl. He left Ohio State following this past season to pursue NFL opportunities.
The 52-year-old coached a few Patriots players at Rutgers when he was there from 2001-11. He also helped Bill Belichick with special projects after being fired from Tampa Bay as head coach and before joining the Ohio State staff in 2016.
Of course, nothing will be official until after the season.
