FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots wide receiver position appears to be a work in progress.
There have been a number of moving parts -- including players coming and going, as well as injuries -- so the unit hasn't had much consistency. Against the Bills on Sunday, Tom Brady was just 9-for-23 when targeting wide receivers.
Rookie wide out Jakobi Meyers was active in the game, but saw only four snaps.
Speaking in the locker room Monday, he indicated he's still working on developing trust with Brady.
"Every day I get better with just little things that Tom wants, being where he expects me to be," Meyers said. "Hopefully I can keep going and he will trust me more and more."
Through four games, Meyers has been active in three of them and has totaled three catches for 60 yards.
"I haven't always been the guy. I have done a lot of sitting on the bench in my career," he said. "I am kind of used to it, having to work my way up from the bottom. I am taking the same approach here, just grind it out day-by-day and be patient for when my (number) is called, I will be ready to go."
Moving forward, with Antonio Brown out of the picture completely, the Patriots are going to need to get something from Meyers as he is now the No. 4 receiver on the depth chart and should see more action as the year goes along.
