After losing a number of players this offseason, including Tom Brady, some believe the Patriots should tank in 2020 with the hope of getting a top-five draft pick.
Appearing on Dale & Keefe Friday, recently retired fullback James Develin said there's no chance of that happening.
“I don’t think so," he said. "I think one of the biggest things about the Patriots organization is everyone is focused on winning. It’s all about winning, it’s all about improving the team no matter what the cost. I think there will never be a day that there’s ever a second wasted in that building on purposely trying to position themselves in the draft, or something like that. I just truly believe in my heart that that will never happen.
"We will always be trying to win games and always put ourselves in the position to be a better football team.”
Develin, 31, officially retired this week due to complications following suffering a neck injury last season.
The hosts pointed out Develin was still using "we" when referring to the team.
“Hey, I was there for eight years and like I said before, I hope I am part of the organization in some capacity going forward," he said. "Hopefully I am a Patriot for life.”
