Jaylen Brown acknowledges some Celtics initially did not want to play in NBA restart

Speaking via Zoom conference with reporters on Monday, Celtics forward Jaylen Brown said some members of the team initially did not want to be part of the NBA's restart in Orlando later this month.

"A lot of us just initially — even on this team (the Celtics) — just didn't want to go," he said.

As for why he and others changed their minds?

"The ability and the option to play for something bigger than yourself, a lot of guys would sign up for that 10 times out of 10," Brown said.

He added: "It was a lack of information that was being shared. A lot of us around the league felt like we didn't have any information. Once we found out (the info), a lot of guys came around on making their decision, including myself."

Brown has very active the last few months when it comes to racial inequality issues, including leading a protest in Atlanta following the murder of George Floyd.

The 23-year-old also said he's been dealing with some family issues lately, but once in Orlando he will continue to fight for social justice.

The Celtics are scheduled to resume play July 31 against the Bucks.
