Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Brady haven't been in the same quarterback room for a little bit now, but that doesn't mean Brady has stopped giving advice to his former backup.
The 49ers quarterback is coming back from a torn ACL suffered last year, and he went to Brady for advice last weekend at the Kentucky Derby. Brady, of course, suffered the same injury in 2008.
As for what he said, Garoppolo is keeping it to himself.
“I’ve got to keep that confidential,” he said, via the Mercury News. “But I did actually talk to him about it for a little bit. He’s been through everything, seen everything, so whenever I can pick his brain, it’s a good thing.”
After suffering the injury in Week 3 last season, Garoppolo has worked his way back to running and throwing and is expected to be on the field with his teammates for OTAs later in the month.
“It’s a combination of reactionary stuff. That’s a big part of it,” Garoppolo said when asked what he hopes to get out of it. “When you’re doing rehab, everything is, ‘Do this movement, do this.’ Well, in the game, you’re more reacting than thinking. Getting used to those type of movements. We’ve been doing some of them and patterning them. It’s coming along well.”
