Of all the available receivers left on the open market, Jordy Nelson was one of the biggest names available, but it doesn't look like he'll be joining the Patriots.
According to NFL Network's James Jones, Nelson is retiring.
The 33-year-old was semi-productive in his first and only year in Oakland last year, finishing with 63 receptions for 739 yards and three touchdowns. The Patriots were reportedly interested in him as of a few weeks ago.
Nelson will finish his career by playing in 10 seasons (nine in Green Bay) and totaling 8,597 receiving yards.
The Patriots still have quite a bit of work to do at the receiver position. Their current depth chart is: Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Braxton Berrios, Maurice Harris, Bruce Ellington, Matthew Slater and Damoun Patterson.
