The Patriots' voluntary offseason workout program has been going on for a few weeks, as it is now Phase 2, which allows coaches to begin working with players on the field.
Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski have yet to show up, but Brady's absence isn't an issue for offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
(It's worth noting Brady didn't participate from 2008-10 when he was training in California.)
"I have no doubt that [Brady] is doing what he thinks is right for him and his family," McDaniels told reporters at Gillette Stadium on Friday."I completely respect that. I know he'll be ready to go. I know he'll be in good shape, good condition. I'm sure he's working really hard. I'm not really worried about that."
McDaniels added: "As coaches, selfishly, we always want them all here. ... But I totally understand that those things happen. It's happened before."
Brady has been on record saying this offseason was more about spending time with his family.
The media will get a chance to see the team at OTAs for the first time May 24.
