Julian Edelman explains leopard print jacket he wore prior to Monday Night Football

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Julian Edelman is known as the flying squirrel, but on Monday he was a leopard.

The Patriots wide receiver wore a leopard print jacket into MetLife Stadium before the game, and explained the motivation for it afterwards.

“My dad back in the 80s, I have a picture of him in this leopard shirt, so he was my inspiration for wearing (it),” Edelman said.

As for the game, the Patriots shut out the Jets, 33-0 to improve to 7-0 on the season.

It was one of the best wins of the season, with all three units contributing.

“It’s always good,” Edelman said. “You can’t forget the special teams. Gunner (Olszewski) had a great return. We had great field position all day -- Slate (Matthew Slater) getting that ball back. It’s awesome to have complimentary football. It is a team sport and the better the team does in all phases, the better the team is going to do.

“We’re going to have to get back to work, obviously. We have a short week. We’re going to have to have a great week of practice and try to keep it going.”

The Patriots will host the Browns Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
