FOXBORO -- After being without Julian Edelman for the entire 2017 season, it appears the Patriots will be without him for the first four games of 2018.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates, Edelman is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy. It is currently being appealed.
The 32-year-old is working his way back from a torn ACL suffered in the preseason last year.
Edelman was the last player on the practice field this morning for the final day of minicamp and spent most of the session on the sidelines. He spoke with owner Robert Kraft for quite a bit too, most likely about the suspension.
Other than Edelman, the Patriots have Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell, Kenny Britt, Cordarrelle Patterson, Jordan Matthews, Phillip Dorsett and Braxton Berrios on the wide receivers depth chart.
