It's a sad day for fans of the NFL.
Senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron made a few announcements Tuesday, which included long-time referee Ed Hochuli is retiring. Also retiring is Jeff Triplette.
Although Ed is retiring, his son Shawn has been hired as one of the two replacements. He has been working NFL games since 2014.
Hochuli, 67, has been an official in the NFL since 1990 and has been the referee in two Super Bowls.
He is known for his outstanding physique and long explanations of calls.
