This is a big offseason for Patriots wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell.
The third-year wide out missed all of last season with a knee injury and said after the Super Bowl how important the spring sessions were for him because of the lost time.
Mitchell was spotted at the first voluntary OTA session, but didn't attend any of the spring sessions after that. It is worth noting he did make an appearance on the lower grass field during the last day of mandatory minicamp, which is typically where players rehabbing go. It's unclear what happened, but it wouldn't be a surprise to hear he suffered a setback returning from his knee injury last year.
At a charity event Saturday, Mitchell was asked by the Boston Herald if he will be ready for training camp.
"We'll see," he said.
If healthy, Mitchell could play an important role, especially if Julian Edelman is suspended for any part of the start of the season. He and Chris Hogan are the only other receivers that have any real experience working with Tom Brady.
