The news is not good for Malcolm Mitchell.
After a report circulated Monday afternoon that the Patriots are shopping him, it was reported first by Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal that Mitchell had a procedure on his knee Monday as an attempt to determine cause and a solution for his ongoing knee pain. The receiver has battled knee injuries since college and missed the entire 2017 season.
Kevin Duffy of the Boston Herald added the Patriots will make a determination on his future with the team in 24-48 hours.
The Patriots' wide receiver situation isn't the greatest heading into training camp, which kicks off Thursday morning. Julian Edelman is suspended for the first four games and then besides Chris Hogan, there are a lot of newcomers who don't have any experience working with Tom Brady. In addition, Kenny Britt is starting the year on PUP, taking away some time to work with Brady
Even before the Mitchell news, wide receiver was one of the most interesting positions on the team and now it becomes even more interesting.
