Former Patriots defensive coordinator and current head coach of the Lions Matt Patricia was a guest on Adam Schefter's podcast this week where he hit on a number of different subjects.

One of the topics was Super Bowl LII where Patricia said the game still bothers him, as do the other two Super Bowl losses he's been part of as an assistant coach.

"The game still really bothers me. It always will," Patricia said. "The '11 game still bothers me. The '07 game still bothers me. Those three that you don't finish off the right way, they hurt forever."

Patricia also discussed always having a pencil behind his ear. He noted it goes with his wallet and phone as essentials when leaving the house in the morning.

"The problem with the pencil is, I'm Italian so I like to hug," Patricia said. "You got to be careful because if I'm coming in on the right, and this thing's extra sharp sometimes, you might get it on the side of the head -- it's dangerous."

The new coach of the Lions said after the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles his 6-year-old son was crying, but his 4-year-old son was playing with the confetti.

"He just wanted to grab the confetti," Patricia said. "I'm like, 'It's the wrong color, buddy.' It's not a good time."

Patricia's Lions will host the Patriots this coming season.
