Mohamed Sanu reacts to first game as member of Patriots

FOXBOROUGH — Only five days after being traded to the Patriots from the Falcons, wide receiver Mohamed Sanu made his debut Sunday afternoon against the Browns.

The veteran wide out played 36 total offensive snaps and lined up primarily in the slot, but also saw some time on the outside.

Sanu recorded two catches on five targets for 23 yards.

It took a lot of work just to get the receiver ready for the game after he only had three real practices to get up to speed with his new offense.

"I took extra time, walkthroughs," Sanu said after the game. "I came in at night, looked at the tape, the formations, film with Coach Troy (Brown) and Coach (Joe) Judge, So, we all put in extra time, and it paid off."

Bill Belichick offered his praise for the week-long prep.

"He worked really hard," he said. "He spent a lot of extra time with everybody, especially Joe and Troy. Obviously, Josh (McDaniels), Tom and the other receivers, Phil (Dorsett) and Jules (Julian Edelman) and those guys. But he worked hard and I thought he gained a lot of ground on the offense. Hopefully, he'll be further ahead next week but I'm glad he's here and hopefully he'll be able to contribute for us."

What Sanu did Sunday is just the beginning when it comes to him fitting into the offense.

He obviously doesn't have a full grasp of the playbook and that will come with time. It's also very apparent he has the trust of Tom Brady and the rest of the team that it will only get better with time.

And when it does, it seems Sanu is expecting big things.

"Once I get my feet wet a little more, then we'll have some fun," he said.
