After seven seasons in New England, left tackle Nate Solder signed a four-year deal with the Giants during the first few days of free agency to become the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league.

Clearly, Solder has a special connection to the New England community with all the charity work he's done, as well as being an inspiration for many with all that he's gone through with his personal life.

Speaking to Boston 25's Butch Stearns Thursday at Matt Light's charity event, the left tackle discussed his thoughts on leaving the Patriots.

“It’s really bittersweet," he said. "We’re so excited for the opportunity, but there’s just so many goodbyes and tough goodbyes. Just reflecting on a lot of great memories, too.”

Solder added: “It still feels like we’re in a transition period here. When I think of my team, I think of the Patriots. I am transitioning into a new team, a new chapter in our lives. I think we will always be part of this community. We will always be part of the Patriot family because we have two championships here. We’ve done a lot here. Now this is a new chapter and we’re going to be Giants. It’s exciting.”

Solder said Tom Brady was one of the first players to reach out to him and he told him they would stay friends forever.

Even though he's a member of the Giants now, Solder still believes the Patriots will continue their run of success.

“They are going to do great, I know they will," he said.
