The Celtics had a real chance of landing center DeMarcus Cousins.
Just after Cousins reportedly agreed to signing with the Warriors, ESPN's Chris Haynes reported Cousins had narrowed his choices down to Golden State and Boston. The deal with the Warriors is reportedly worth $5.3 million, well below what many thought he would receive on the open market.
Before tearing his Achilles last year, Cousins was averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game with the Pelicans. Turning 28 years old, some wonder if he will be the same player as he was before the injury, but when healthy he's one of the best centers in the entire league.
While the Celtics didn't land Cousins, it does show they are back at the top of the list in terms of free agent destinations.
