The Patriots will likely select multiple receivers in April's draft, and one potentially could be a local product.
According to Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst, New England is one of the teams that has shown interest in Andy Isabella out of UMass.
“Two teams I left out, who a number of people tell me who are really interested in him are the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers," Pauline said on the Bleav Podcast Network. "The Patriots make sense in so many ways. This is their type of receiver. A little bit shorter, a little bit undersized, but incredibly quick, incredibly creative, fast, a guy who can produce when the ball is in his hands running after the catch, as well as lining up as a return specialist.
“The Packers also like him as a slot receiver. People tell me he can play in the flank, but the Packers would love him in the slot and to use him as a return specialist as well. So when you get into the third round area, look at the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers to kind of target Andy Isabella or have him on the list with the other players they really like.”
Isabella, who is listed at 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, had just over 1,000 yards receiving as a junior, but really broke out as a senior. Last fall, he finished with 102 receptions for 1,698 yards and 13 touchdowns. At UMass, he mostly played on the outside, but is working on his game to line up out of the slot. It's also worth noting he's been working out with Randy Moss.
The Patriots currently have three third-round selections, so Isabella is certainly a name to keep an eye on.
