It's officially official -- Jamie Collins is back with the Patriots.
The move was listed on Thursday's NFL transaction wire along with the corresponding roster move, which was releasing defensive tackle Frank Herron.
Herron was signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent last spring, but he was released at the end of training camp. He was then signed to the Seahawks practice squad, but only lasted a week and re-signed to the Patriots' practice squad in October.
The 24-year-old has never played a NFL game.
New England hopes Collins' second tenure with the team follows a trend set by Patrick Chung of being better than the first.
