Tom Brady has a new weapon.
The Patriots have signed wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, according to the team. The long-time Broncos receiver was traded to Houston last season at the deadline before he suffered an Achilles injury late in the year.
He's reportedly expected to be ready around the time training camp begins.
The signing comes following the team hosted the 31-year-old for a visit last week. NFL Media's Ian Rapoport adds it is a one-year deal worth $6 million.
When healthy and in the prime of his career, he was one of the better receivers in the NFL. He went over 1,000 yards receiving in five straight years from 2012-16 with the Broncos. Last year between Denver and Houston, he caught 59 passes for 677 yards and five touchdowns.
While Thomas isn't what he once was, he's a wide out with actual NFL experience and that is what the team needs.
The depth chart now has Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett, Thomas, Maurice Harris, Bruce Ellington, Matthew Slater, Braxton Berrios and Damoun Patterson.
